Gordal
This
variety, typical of Seville, has a vegetation with thick, fairly
long branches, with few ramifications. It produces isolated
fruit, well spaced out, and the wood is ochrous grey.
It has an almost straight, long leaf with an even width. It has
a greenish upper side and silver lower side.
The fruit is fairly long, oval-shaped, and some are
asymmetrical. It is medium-sized (1.28 g) and oil yield is 22.1% |
Arbequina
This
variety is mainly produced in the provinces of Lerida and
Tarragona. The tree vegetation produces long shoots, with few
ramifications, with no adventitious branches or suckers. It is
not a robust tree, and it is greyish, dark green.
The leaf has a fluted shape, and widens out at the apex. Its
upper surface is green with a touch of ochre and the lower side
is grey and greenish yellow.
The fruit has an oval shape, it is short and almost symmetrical.
It is small-sized (0.80 to 1.20 g). Oil yield ranges from 17.2
to 19.5%. |
Hojiblanca
This
olive is grown in the provinces of Cordoba and Malaga. The tree
has fruitful branches that are fairly long and pendulous. The
canopy is of medium density, with average foliage. It is
greenish, light grey.
The leaf is long, fairly wide and slightly fluted. Its upper
side is greyish green and the lower side is silver.
The fruit is oblong, and a little asymmetrical. It is
medium-sized (1.4 to 4.3 g) and its oil yield is 23.5 to 28.6%. |
Blanqueta
This
olive is grown in the provinces of Valencia and Alicante. The
plant has fairly short shoots in branches. Few ramifications
form thick branches, resulting in clusters of olives, with an
ochrous grey colour.
The leaf is short, flat, lance-shaped, and somewhat wider at the
apix. The upper side is dark green and the lower side is
greenish grey.
The fruit is slightly oval, a little asymmetrical. It is
small-sized (1.16 to 1.94 g) and its oil yield is 25.8%. |
Manzanilla
This
olive is mainly grown in the province of Seville. The tree has
long branches with few ramifications, the canopy does not have
dense leaves, and it has isolated olives. It is ochrous grey.
Its leaves are short and fairly wide. The upper side of the leaf
is fairly dark green and the lower side is slightly silver.
The fruit is characterised by its oval shape. It is fairly short
and asymmetrical, and quite wide at the point. It is
medium-sized (3.1 g) and its oil yield is 19.6%. |
Cornicabra
This
olive is grown in the provinces of Toledo and Ciudad Real. The
tree has medium-length branches, with frequent ramifications,
few twigs and suckers. It is a light grey, somewhat ochrous
colour.
The leaf is long, lance-shaped and symmetrical. It has a light
green upper side and a greenish-grey lower side.
The fruit is fairly long, slightly curved, with protruding
asymmetry, and with a flat back. The belly is horn-shaped in its
typical formation. It is large-sized (3.06 to 3.51 g) and its
oil yield is 21.8 to 27%. |
Empeltre
This
olive is grown in La Rioja, along the River Ebro valley, and as
far as the province of Tarragona. The tree has upright branches
with long spaces between knots, and the canopy tends to be
vertical.
The leaf is wide towards the upper end, some are warped, with a
dark green upper side and a silvery lower side, and a prominent
green nerve.
This variety produces a long, asymmetrical fruit with a slightly
protruding back. It is medium-sized (2.52 g) and its oil yield
is 19.7 to 27.5% |
Farga
This
olive is grown in the provinces of Castellón, Valencia,
Tarragona and Teruel. The branches of the tree are quite long
with a few short ramifications and it is a somewhat dark grey
colour.
The leaf is quite short and flute-shaped. It has a dark green
upper side and a greenish grey lower side.
The fruit is long with a slightly protruding back. It is
medium-sized (1.83 a 2.05 g) and its oil yield is 23.1 to 31.3%. |
